A Sion College Seminar Reception with The Rev’d Martin Browne: The Catholic Church, Ecumenism, and Anglicans

Founded during the Second Vatican Council by Pope St John XXIII, the Dicastery for Christian Unity promotes an ecumenical spirit within the Catholic Church, and seeks to contribute to Christian unity by strengthening relationships with other churches and ecclesial communities.

Fr Martin Browne, A Benedictine monk of Glenstal Abbey in Co. Limerick, Ireland, joined the Dicastery in 2022. He has a particular brief for relations with the Anglican Communion and the World Methodist Council, and was a notable presence in the historic visit by their Majesties the King and Queen to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV in October 2025. Fr Martin will speak on the Catholic Church and ecumenism, and on theological dialogue with the Anglican Communion.
